Biography

Anthony P. Sutton is a partner at Reiter Law Firm. He is a South Dakota native, growing up in Flandreau, South Dakota. He attended college at South Dakota State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science with minors in Spanish and American Indian Studies and graduated with honors. At SDSU he was active in multiple student organizations and was elected Vice President of the SDSU Student Body. He then attended the University of South Dakota School of Law and received his law degree in 2016, graduating with honors.

During law school, Anthony received several awards in recognition of his outstanding academic performance. He was a member of the Moot Court Board and The Order of the Barristers. He participated in four moot court tournaments, reaching two semi-finals. He was vice president of the Trial Team and participated in five national trial team tournaments. He was a semi-finalist in the 2016 John L. Costello Criminal Law Competition. He participated in the 2015 LawMeet Transactional Law Competition and reached the national finals. Anthony won the 2013 Sam Masten Competition, orally arguing the final round of the competition in front of the South Dakota Supreme Court. He enjoyed serving as a graduate assistant for Professor Thomas H. Horton and did a comparative law study abroad in China after his first year of law school.

After graduating law school, Anthony had the honor of clerking for United States District Court Judge Karen E. Schreier for two years. He joined the firm Johnson, Janklow, Abdallah & Reiter as an associate attorney in 2018 and worked there until joining the Reiter Law Firm as a partner in 2023.

Anthony is very involved in the South Dakota State Bar and has served on various committees. He currently serves on the CLE Committee, the Bar Foundation, and the State Bar Indian Law Committee.  Anthony is also a past president of the Young Lawyers Section of the South Dakota State Bar. He also remains involved with his fraternity from SDSU and is a member of the organization's Alumni Board of Trustees and Housing Corporation.

Anthony enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and their family.
